SAKURA INTERNATIONAL BUFFET

Just went to try out the Sakura international buffet with my nutpals recently.

Since our work places are located near to one another, we decided to go to the Sakura outlet at Omni Theatre(weird location isn't it?) It's been a million years since i stepped foot there. Haha... Actually i am lazy to blog about this because some of the food there was kinda disappointing. More misses than hits i guess. But for the price of around $26/pax for dinner buffet, i guess we shouldn't expect too much. So i shall keep it brief. Thank god there was one star dish that saved the day for me.

The misses: Cha Soba and Udon that was soggy and very not Q respectively.

The Dimsums: The prawns in the Siew Mai were not very fresh. Kinda disappointing cos i love eating Siew Mai. The rest of the items here were forgettable as well.

Kueh Pie Tee - No comment.

Another prawn dish that lacks freshness.

The sharkfin soup was nothing to rave about either. Actually i expected it lah. Even my grandma can whip up a better sharkfin soup than this. Ha... The nonya laksa was still acceptable. Quite spicy though. And surprisingly, the small prawns here were very fresh.

Tasteless Chawamushi :( The fried tofu was better thanks to the thai sauce.

Ok. To be fair, the chicken satay was not too bad. It was marinated well at least. Coconut took the mutton satays to try as well. Forgot to ask her about the taste since i hate the smell. But i assume it shouldn't be that bad too.

The samba clams were nice and chewy. Actually i think their clam dishes were all quite good. Thank god.

The scallops were decent too. In fact, i ate most of it. Ha... The salmon sashimi was quite fresh with no fishy smell. Being a person who seldom take raw food, at least i did not feel like puking after eating it.

Waffle + Ice creams: Nothing to rave about. Very ordinary.

Desserts: Other than the brownie and the oreo cheese cake, the rest were nothing special. The strawberry cake tasted like cough syrup. Gross... And why didn't they have my favourite eclairs??? Lolz...

Ok. Here comes the star dish and the motivation for me to write about this post. Ha...

Introducing the DURIAN PUFF!

The durian puffs there were fantastic!!! Instead of substituting with creams (which we expected) with maybe tiny bits of durian flesh, the durian puffs there were stuffed with real durian flesh, chunks of it to be exact. It's almost like eating straight off a durian! Being a durian lover, i was in heaven. Needless to say, i kept going for it. It was definitely the highlight of my meal :)

包吃!!! Wahahaaa....

My buffet kakis :)
