1 DAY BATAM TRIP

Finally i went on a 'trip out of Singapore' this year! Haha...

That's right, i just went to Batam a few days ago... If i can choose, of course i would much rather prefer going on a trip to Europe or even nearby places such as Taiwan or Bangkok. Since my mum wanted to sponser this 1 day trip to Batam, i guess better than nothing. I have never been to Batam before plus I am free anyway. So why not just take a look right? And for once, i feel like i have become a 'millionaire' (The zeros in the Rupiah is driving me mad!) Oh, i realise Batam is actually 1 hour behind Singapore. Hmm...

Our itinerary for the day

At Harbourfront ferry terminal

Me & my mum on the coach

Chinese Temple

Confucius Temple

A small pagoda located near the temple for burning of incense paper.

Multi-hand goddess - reminds me of the Diner Dash game. Lol~

Time for seafood lunch!

Lobsters! Yum Yum...

Hmm... i am not sure what is this. Clams?

She sells seashells by the seashore. The shells she sells are surely seashells. So if she sells shells on the seashore, I'm sure she sells seashore shells.

Crabs! My favourite! Chilli crab anyone? Looks small though...

The scenery surrounding the restaurant

The restaurant is divided into two parts and built with wood and bamboo over the sea. Freaking huge here. I think it can even seat a few thousands people! We had some prawns, chilli crabs, fried fish, fried squid and sambal kang kong. There was also this dish by the name of 'Gong Gong', which i think Batam is known for it. It looks something like this:

Basically, it is a conch shell thing where you have to extract the meat from the shell using a toothpick. My aunt ate most of it. Erm... i did not try it because it did not look tempting to me at all. I do not want to end up 'gong gong' (blur or dumb in hokkien). Haha...

My aunt & cousin

See the tap there? So convenient since we are eating seafood here.

My aunt wanted me to take this picture for her cos being the 5th aunt, the number 555 is like related to her -_-"'

My favourite moment - Massage! We were given the alternative of shopping or going for massage. Of course i chose massage. Basically we can choose either thai or indo style of massage. According to our tour guide, indo massage is better. We were escorted into a dim room with curtains dividing each person. The curtains could be drawn so that we can talk to each other, which we did. Being a first timer, of course i was nervous and shy at the same time cos we had to strip off our clothes and changed into a pair of shorts provided by them. But damn... the whole session was so shiok that i almost fell asleep. I felt the pain during certain parts, but it was still within my pain threshold limit. I am not that weak ok. The cost? Approx. S$20 for a 1.5 hours full body massage. So cheap!!! I want another session!

We stopped by the Polo Ralph Lauren factory outlet on the way. The price there is much cheaper than Singapore and it is authentic. I bought 2 polo shirts (big pony) for about 80 bucks! The more popular designs and colours were mostly left with the larger size like L, XL or XXL. I wanted to buy a white one but there was no more stock for my size. Sigh~ So I decided to buy a black one but the 'empress' complained that i got too many black clothings at home and wanted me to choose pink (i have just as much pink fyi... I think she is just biased towards black -.-"'). Too bad i did not have enough time to browse, otherwise i might get some t-shirts as well.

This is for David

And this is mine... :)

Shopping wise, there was not much things to shop probably due to lack of time. Most of the things we bought were food items. We stopped by Batam Mega Mall for our dinner and i cannot help feeling excited when i saw a Donuts & Coffee place. It kind of reminded me of Donuts Factory though i have not tried that before. (I am not going to queue 2-3 hours for the donuts unless someone is so nice to queue for me. Haha...) They have about 20 varieties and I bought a dozen for about S$7. Quite cheap... Regretted not buying another box... T_T

J.CO Donuts and Coffee

In general, most of the donuts taste good. Soft and fluffy... In fact, some of the toppings actually melted in my mouth. It tastes the same even when i keep it overnight for 1 day, but i think it is best to eat it fresh. They have some cute names like Tira Miss U, Miss Green T, Berry Blue and Jacky Chunk. I like the one with the one with chocolate crisps, oreo powder, almond slices, tiramisu and mango flavour. Seriously, i think i can finish everything in one go if i am hungry. Man... i feel like taking a ferry back to Batam again to buy another box and try the rest of the flavours. I am super addicted to donuts now! Too bad it is only available in Indonesia. I hope they open some franchises in Singapore soon and fight with Donuts Factory! Haha...
