    LOSING FAITH...

I am so confused... i really feel like giving up... Maybe we are just not meant to be.

I seem to be an obligation to him. Now it feels as though he is meeting me for the sake of meeting.

Everything seems so different now - the feelings, the things we do, the time we spend together...

Why do i feel that he does not seem to care as much as before?

Is it a torture for him to spend another 5 more mins with me?

Does he think of me only when he needs someone to accompany him or when he needs my help?

Are his friends more important to him than me or are those just some of his excuses to get away from me?

Why do i feel that i do not understand him at all despite being with him for more than 1 year?

Why is it things always don't turn out as what i expected?

Why can't he be more sensitive to my feelings?

Did he ever love me before?

I wish i know the answers to these questions right now. The longer it drags on, the more hurt i feel. Pretending that everything is fine between us is just deluding myself, deluding him and deluding everybody.

Am i too emotional? Am i too sensitive? Was it a mistake right from the start? Maybe.

Falling in love is easy, staying in love and making it last is a harder task to achieve.

If only things were that simple.

    GONE FISHING

Lee recently brought me to this place called 'Gone Fishing' - A small neighborhood cafe tucked away in the heart of Hillview residential enclave in the western part of Singapore. Finally there is something to rave about in the west side! Haha...

This cafe was first established in October 2002 as a casual space for the unhurried soul by Kenny and Mei Chin, a husband-and-wife team who have left the corporate world to pursue a family-centred lifestyle. It has since evolved into a field of dreams on which many have lived their dreams as well as a haven for the kindred souls to exchange ideas and learn more about life.

Frankly speaking, i think not many people know about the existence of this place as it was literally hidden from the main road with not much traffic, other than the residents living there and the regulars who know about this place. Reminiscient of coffee outlets Starbucks and Coffee Bean, there is a laid-back sense of intimacy with acoustic piped music and amber lighting. It was actually a blessing in disguise that the cafe was not located in a more central location, as it will be almost impossible to create such an unique, cosy and quiet ambience there.

The moment we stepped inside the cafe, the first sight that greeted us was the shocking amount of graffiti on the walls. In fact, it filled up almost every visible corners of the walls. Interestingly, it is the cafe's policy that customers are allowed to scrawl whatever they want on the walls as a form of free expression.

Actually, it was a rather good idea in the sense that it gives you something to ponder about while you read and reflects on the thoughts of others. I should have taken a look inside the washroom because Lee told me there are a lot of humorous and creative scribblings such as:

"If you cannot aim properly while standing, please try sitting"

"Caution: For experts only. Try to pee and shit at the same time"

Another interesting concept - The tables there were converted from sewing machines! Those very old and traditional type which my mum also owns one. I think it can be consider an antique. Haha... The foot pedal as shown in the picture is still working perfectly. Good exercise for the leg :)

The cafe offers a wide selection of food and beverage items, including premium boutique Australian wine, Italy’s favourite coffee (Lavazza), imported beers, fine selection of cakes, and home-style cuisines. Their signature main courses are the Suzanne’s Roast Chicken and the Prata Wrap. As for the signature drink, it has to be the almond coffee, with the coffee beans proudly display on the shelves and bar counter for customers who want to make their own almond coffee at home.

    The Bar Counter

The prices of the food there is quite reasonable. For example, a personal pizza is around $8.50. A set meal with soup, main course and drink will cost 15 bucks. Since i was already there, how could i miss out the signature items right?

    So i ordered these:

The soup of the day was mushroom soup. It was rather smooth and creamy, especially when served hot. To me, food just taste extra delicious when they are served piping hot, even better when i can see the steam rising from it. To me, the same food just taste different when they have turned cold. I know i may be weird but well, that is my personal preference.

The almond coffee! Frankly speaking, i have a love-hate realationship with almond. On one hand, i like almonds when they are in nut form, like those that comes together with chocolates or biscuits. Ironically, i hate the taste of almond when they are prepared as those beancurd type, usually added with a mixture of oriental fruits such as canned lychees or longans. The almond essence is just too strong for my liking when they are served that way. In the case of this almond coffee, the aroma and taste is kind of similar to the almond bean curd, but with the added fragrance of the coffee. Actually it was not that bad after all. Surprising, I managed to finish up the coffee. Those who likes almond beancurds will definately loves this almond coffee.

The suzanne’s roast chicken. I think i waited more than 30 minutes for them to prepare this dish, which was a long wait considering my stomach was already growling by then. The roast chicken is marinated with a secret recipe and comes with chicken rice and chilli sauce. The chicken rice was not too oily while the chicken was soft and tender. Not much fats was visible on the chicken skin plus salads were provided. Definately a no guilt dish for the health conscious. To me, the most tasty part is definately the skin. Haha... As for the chilli sauce, it was hot and spicy. My lips and tongue ended up with a nice tingling sensation all over afterward. There is only one word to describe it: "Shiok!"

Lee decided to take the pork ribs as the roast chicken was taking a long time to prepare. I should have tried one piece because Lee said the pork ribs were absolutely delicious. Well... maybe i will try it next time :)

To provide extra value for customers, the cafe also provides a comfortable sofa seats for talks and discussions and a reading corner for people to sit down, relax and enjoy a nice cup of coffee. In addition, they also provide free board games, though not as much varieties as those that you find in the Settlers Cafe (a board game cafe that charges by hours). Since they are free, nobody is complaining. You are allowed to bring your own games too if you find the games there too boring :)

    The Board Games

We decided to play this game which is similar to Scrabble. Group up into 3 pairs together with Lee's friends. Ended up we only had time for this game, which really killed a lot of our brain cells. Haha... My team won in the end. Yeah~

The final verdict is that if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing place to pass the time, this is the place to come. It is not only a good place to hold a business discussion, but also a good place to hang out with friends or even for couples who want more privacy.

For those interested to go there, the address is:

    BACK TO SCHOOL!

FINALLY I COMPLETED MY TWO MONTHS WORK STINT AT IQDYNAMICS!

I know some people might think i am crazy to work continuously without a break during this period. The school holiday was supposed to be a little respite for me after all the tensions and stress that i faced due to the exams and projects. A less determined person might have given up long ago. But hey, i am proud to say that i managed to survive the challenges given to me despite having thoughts of quitting a few times :)

I admit it was tough initally, but gradually i kind of adapted to the job and environment, which is of course help by the fact that the colleagues there are always willing to lend a helping hand. It was also another learning curve for me - having to deal with different people, watching how different type of companies operate their businesses, taking on new job scopes and of course, handling work stress.

Ironically, i kind of miss working there now that i have completed my duties.

I miss the fun times i spent with my colleagues.

I miss the chocolate muffins, prawn wanton, prawn mee, nasi lemak, peanut ice kachang, herbal soup and korean food at Tanjong Pagar area.

I miss the days where i can just reach home or go out after work without having to worry about projects deadline or even study like mad for exams.

I miss the days of knowing that for every hour that i work, there is $$$ coming in. Haha...

Anyway, going back to school is not such a bad thing. At least now there is no need for me to jostle with the morning or evening crowd for a space in the MRT and i can wake up a bit later if school starts in the noon. However, the stupid timetable this sememster really cannot make it. I got night class every Thurs from 7pm-10pm! Argh! I really hate night class! By the time i reach home, it will be almost 11pm. I want to watch my tv shows! Lucky i have a VCR, at least not so bad. But still sian...

I just hope i can pass all my modules this time round, especially my Management Accounting. If i fail again, really can pengz* But i will work hard and make sure there is no repeat of my failure again. You know why? Because i do not want to see that stupid 'Bean' again!

    THE "SHARING" AUNTY

I learnt a lesson: NEVER EVER SHARE CAB WITH AN AUNTY!

Can you believe how cunning and thick-skin some aunties can be? My colleague, Lee and i were going out for dinner after work. It was supposed to be a relaxing friday night out. We decided to take a cab from Clementi and waited patiently at the taxi stand for our turn. While we were discussing about our dinner plans, the aunty queuing in front of us overheard our conversations and found out that we were going to Bt Batok.

Immediately jumping at the chance to save some money, she offered,

"Hey... since i am going to bt batok ave 4, why don't we share a cab? It should be on the way and we can help each other to save cost as well right?"

Thinking that what she said was quite true, we got on the cab together with that aunty. In fact, all the while we were secretly thankful that she helped to entertain the taxi driver. That means both of us can save the trouble of making small talks with some nosey drivers. When we finally reached our destination, the fare came up to around $7. Lee handed the aunty $6, assuming that the aunty will automatically returned her about $2 since we agreed to "share" the cost. Guess how that shameless aunty reacted?

"Eh Eh Eh! Don't go yet. You still short of $1. You don't expect me to pay for you right?"

What the hell!!! I thought we were supposed to share? So "sharing" in 'aunty term' means "You pay I save"? Stupid aunty. Really Buay Pai Seh~ I think her skin must be so thick that even a mosquito will have difficulty sucking any blood out of her. *FUMES* On the hind sight, i should have insulted her back by saying,

"Eh... Aunty. Since that's the case, shouldn't you return us the change since the fare is not $7 exact? You don't expect us to pay that extra few cents for you right?"

In the end, seeing that she is just an aunty plus we were already starving by then, Lee paid her the extra $1 and we got off from the cab. After that, Lee told me something which i think i did not pay attention to while in the cab. She said that the aunty kept telling the driver to let us alight first when actually we passed by Bt Batok Ave 4 before we reached our destination. NO WONDER~ So that aunty had already planned her evil scheme all along and we fell into her trap. Sharing is Caring? More like Sharing is Cheating. *ANGRY* Actually it is not the extra money that we got to fork out that makes us so irritated. It is the way the aunty schemed her way through just to save that extra few dollars. Hello! Want to save money go take bus lah!

Now i learn never to judge a book by its cover. Next time, I AM NOT GOING TO SHARE A CAB WITH A STRANGER, unless you are Beckham or Takeshi Kaneshiro. Haha...

    BYE 2006, HELLO 2007

A belated post - Too lazy to blog recently. Gonna be a long post~ Hehe...

Anyway, hard to believe year 2006 passed just like that. Seems like i got nothing much accomplished yet again. Sigh~

For some reason, the older i become, the faster time seems to zip pass me. I still remember how i used to wish that i could grow up quickly while i was still 18 and now i am approaching 24 soon. Nooooooooooo!!! If only i had the power to control or even slow down the timing. It had been a rather eventful year 2006 in terms of my studies, personal relationships, health, finance etc.

Being back at school was one of the decisions that i never regretted. The joy of seeing fellow mates during my orientation day was like a refreshing scene to me, especially after being in the workforce for 2 years. Working life to me is just so monotonous which is make worse by the fact that i had a terribly boring job as an admin assistant. The downside is, my pocket was hit hard once i go back to school. Suddenly, i could not spend as and when i wish to. Even though i had some savings that i accumulated over the years, the fear and pain of watching my money on the free fall just makes me so worried. I know it will not last forever and i had to watch my spending carefully, which is why i ended up with a curry job. Haha... Lucky i did not develop "curryphobia" yet.

Of course it was not plain sailing in terms of my studies. Even though i did relatively ok for my lst semester, the 2nd semester did not bring me much joy when i had to retake one of the modules. Sigh~ However, i am glad to say that i got to know some nice pals in school. The group projects and the late night mugging together during exams may cause us a lot of distress. However, it was compensated by the occasional ktv sessions, movies and food outing together. Without them, who knows my student life might turn out to be boring as well. Not only that, i realised that me and my nutpals have been friends for about 10 years. Wow...time really flies. So glad that our friendships still remains strong, though we may be a bit crazy at times :)

Being in a relationship also makes me think a lot as well. Human being, afterall is a complicated creature. Sometimes even i had difficulty understanding myself, let alone trying to understand or accomodate another person. It was like a rollercoaster ride to me. You do not know what is ahead of you until u attempted it. Although not dangerous enough to cause me a heart attack, it was still a bumpy ride, causing me some pain and fear along the way. Even so, i still enjoyed the ride as it keeps my adrenaline pumping and brings back some fond memories, such as the first time we went on a holiday trip and our first underwater diving experience together :) The 5-letter word, "T-R-U-S-T" is definately the hardest and most important word that i picked up along the way. Without this 5-letter word, nothing will work out in a relationship. Despite what people might say, ultimately it is up to the involved parties whether to heed or ignore the advices. This is something that is clearly an internal struggle for me even till now. But believe me, i will try my best to overcome it.

As for my health, it did not bode so well for me this year, especially towards the year end. All kinds of rubbish seems to be attracted to me, making me sink deeper and deeper in a quicksand that i cant seem to get out of. Maybe i am just too stressed by my temp job or maybe my body is telling me to take a break. Unfortunately, i am caught in a dilemma over whether to choose money over health. Not that i do not care about my body, just that certain things have more priorities in my life right now. After all,i know even a machine needs to rest. Hopefully things will improve once school starts. Even though my health may suffer slightly due to the job, i am glad to say that i met some unbelievably nice and fun people who are alway willing to extend a helping hand.

I know people tend to make new year resolutions but I shall not make any resolutions for year 2007 since it is pointless. Why do we have to wait for a new year before we decide to change anything right? All those resolutions are merely unfinished business that people tend to bring over to the next year or even next next year. This is usually due to the countless promise that we made to ourselves and yet gets broken time and time again. It just serve a reminder that you have not done what you promise to do last year. I would rather let nature takes its course since things happen for a reason. Time will not stop and wait for you just because things do not go according to your plan. So i will live each day as it comes and hope for better things ahead. Well... maybe i would just like to wish for world peace :)
