AC DINNER & DANCE 2010
Suddenly my blogging juice is back! Hee...
Seriously, i love jan. It's probably the only time of the year where i can afford a little break (but not too long) for myself after a hectic year. Embarking on a new career is never easy. You gotta face many unknowns and challenges that you never expected. The job environment/culture, the colleagues you work with, the bosses, the job satisfaction etc makes a difference to how long you are going to stay in the current job. I don't know about others. But i am pretty confident to say in terms of those factors which i just mentioned, i probably achieve the most out of this job compare to my peers in my batch or even friends elsewhere.
In fact, someone said this to me recently, "Clarice, do you know that among all the friends i know, you seem like the only one who is happy in your job leh". Wahahahaa...
The above sentence kinda took me by surprise. Maybe to some extent it's true. At least for now i know i am happy with my job. Additionally, there is something extra that is motivating me now, which i won't be revealing yet for the time being :) But i certainly hope i will be spending the rest of my career with these special group of people for years to come :)
Now, it's the time of the year for our annual D&D! This was the first time i was involved since i join AC. The whole day event kicks off with our customary goal setting for 2010 before we proceed to the main event held at NUSS Kent Ridge Guild House Ballroom.
Falling in for our meeting at the conference room Zzzzzz........... Shall skip the boring stuff! Our customary "blue drink". Nice colour isnt it? Another AC tradition: The managers gotta serve the "blue drink" to those under them Yammmm~~~ Sengggg!!!!! Went over to their bar counter for a quick chill out and drinks before the main event starts
The rest mingling and enjoying their drinks outside the ballroom
The secretaries taking charge of our attendance :) Eugene displaying an act of generosity towards the fund raising activity, organised by AC for the Rewatha Children Home
"The Farmers" from our Bintan trip. Haha...
A bit off topic. But i just wanna make a special mention to this game called 'Bohnanza' that Gunny brought along during our Bintan trip. It is basically played with a deck of cards with comical illustrations of eight different types of beans (of varying scarcities), which the players are trying to plant and sell in order to raise money. So we are essentially "the farmers" and our task is to negotiate and barter trade with one another to get the seeds we wanna harvest. Players with the most coins at the end wins the game. Seriously, this game is damn addictive! Back in Bintan, the 5 of us were so hooked into the game till we were still playing it at 4am in the morning, while the rest were snoring away. Lolz... Normally i don't anyhow buy games but i am considering getting a set for myself. It is seriously damn fun lah!!! Totally worth it to buy.
Group photos with our director's group :) Inside the ballroom
Everyone getting seated
The band Colin starting his opening speech Colin announcing the decision to step down from his chairman's position and pass over his role to our new chairman, Hunn Leong. Even though it was a voluntary decision by Colin, judging from the pic, it seems like there is always a tinge of sadness when something comes to an end whatever that may be.
Some of our top achievers holding placards to pledge our goals for 2010
Next up is the dance segments by our very own AC team. Unfortunately, it was meant to be a forfeit for those who missed their pledged goal last year. Yes, i was involved cos i missed my goal by a bit. Too bad they don't count pro-rated goal since i only join AC midway through last year. Technically, i "hit the halfway goal" already loh (trying to console myself. Haha...). Oh well... It's all in a good fun. Although it was all done at the last min on the day itself, we did have an enjoyable time practicing all the dance steps choreographed by Julia.
Our dress code for the dance: Bright colours!
I love this pic! Everyone looks so bright and chirpy :)
"The dancers" getting all excited outside the ballroom while on standby
And so it goes... Dancing to the song “Blame it on the Boogie”
Our performance was staggered into 4 groups, one after the other. Majority in my group were following Eugene throughout the practice session cos he's the most zai one. Guess what? He got the steps wrong during the actual performance! Needless to say, the blinds follow the blind and the copycats(including me) basically anyhow dance. Haha... Lucky everyone was in a party mood, so i guess not much people noticed the mistake. Hee...
Award presentations for some of our top achievers
Jasmine throwing a challenge to "the god", our top producer in AC
Thumbs up for her courage!
Boss achieving his Life Member honour together with the current achievers
Patrick performing solo (Woot!!!) with the assistance of his hp for the lyrics
Sean proudly showing off the bottle he won during the Q&A game segment
Abel's trophy ended up as a booze glass! Lolz...
Cheers!!! :DDD
Abel, our leader for last quarter trying to "pass the good luck" to me, the leader for this quarter. Hopefully, i can also help my team to achieve the first place and win the $500 cash for our group :)
Julia leading the move to the Wonder Girls song, "Nobody" I want nobody nobody but you! *Clap Clap*~~~
*And the party began!*
Group shots with my group + our secretary, Fara
*PS: The night ended with several mini dramas:
Me and Chin nearly got into an accident while he was sending me home. Apparently, i did not realised he was getting a bit tipsy (i was abit high too lah) and he mounted the curb 3x! Then we realised one of the tyres became punctured after that. To make things worse, we were stuck in some ulu place with only a few monster trucks passing by. Seriously, all it takes is for 1 of those monster truck to hit us and we will be gone! In a state of confusion, Chin accidentally locked his Iphone and all outgoing calls were inaccessible -_-"" To add to the drama, my hp was also on the verge of dying too! Just when we were wondering what to do, a passing police rover (OMGGG!!!) stopped behind us! They tried to helped us though, albeit unsuccessfully cos the spare tyre was screwed tight to Chin's car boot. Fortunately, they did not really check our state of mind at that point of time, otherwise we would have gotten into trouble. With some assistance from Eugene who drove all the way down to settle our problem, Chin's car was eventually towed away to his house by the tow truck. Well... I finally reached home safely at 3am+
What a night!
But We learnt a lesson: Never drink and drive!
